Xima

Xima is a traditional staple dish from Mozambique made with cornmeal, cassava flour and spices. This dish is versatile and can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s a delicious blend of sweet and savory flavors that will tantalize your taste buds!

  • Ingredients:
    • 1 cup cornmeal
    • 1 cup cassava flour
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 1 tsp turmeric
    • 1 tbsp butter
  • Preparation:
    1. In a saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add salt, paprika and turmeric.
    2. Add in the cornmeal and cassava flour while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
    3. Cook for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens.
    4. Stir in the butter and cook for another 2 minutes.
    5. Serve hot.
